Aina Salom, pharmacist: "A stream of water isn't enough to wash your face properly."

Facial cleansing is an essential step that should be part of your daily routine. There are no excuses. If you want radiant, healthy skin, you have to wash your face morning and night , and most importantly, do it properly.
"Most people do it wrong," says Aina Salom , a pharmacist specializing in dermocosmetics, in one of her Instagram posts. "Not washing your face properly will make your skin look dull and aged. A splash of water isn't enough," he adds.
Far from simply offering a warning, the pharmacist goes further and explains the mistakes we often make when cleansing our faces and how to remedy them. Because it's never too late to start taking care of your skin the way it deserves.
The most common mistakes and how to fix themWashing your face incorrectly has negative consequences . It can cause acne, accelerate skin aging, and dull your skin, making it look duller. Recognizing these mistakes and finding solutions is essential to improving your skin's condition and avoiding dermatological problems .
1. Rinse quicklyThe first mistake is not letting the cleanser sit. If you apply it and then wipe it off after a few seconds, you're doing it wrong. " You have to let the product sit for at least 60 seconds to remove all the dirt. Otherwise, the makeup and impurities will remain on the skin," says the dermocosmetics expert.
2. Wash with very hot waterAlthough it may be tempting, especially in winter, washing your face with water that's too hot is bad for your skin. "Hot water strips the skin of its natural oils , leaving it dehydrated and more sensitive." It's better to use lukewarm water to cleanse your face, and this also applies to your scalp.
3. Using the wrong towelIt's one of the most common mistakes. If you use the same towel to dry your body and face, you're doing it wrong. "Bacteria and residue can be transferred from the body to the face, which can lead to pimples or irritation," warns the pharmacist. Use one towel only for your face and change it frequently.
The 60-second methodTo properly wash your face, Aina Salom recommends the 60-second technique. This simple but effective method consists of applying a cleanser appropriate for your skin type and gently massaging for one minute in circular motions.
Afterward, rinse your face thoroughly with warm water to remove any cleanser residue , paying special attention to your forehead, jawline, and nose. This will leave you with fresher, impurity-free skin. "A well-done cleansing routine is the first step to allowing your skin to breathe, regenerate, and regain its natural balance," says the pharmacist.
